Equine Boarding

Boarding is not the purpose of Honey Creek Ranch but we do offer the service to our customers.  Horses boarded at Honey Creek Ranch are given the same shelter, grass or hay and grain as we do our own horses which are normally kept in the pasture. We feed them grain twice a day, not only for the nutrition but because we feel it's important for them to know we care for them and hence we become important to their daily lifestyle.  In other words, we have some of the friendliest horses in East Texas. Beyond the grain our horses have ample grass in the pasture or access to free-choice hay.

Yes we have covered stalls and do accept boarding in the stalls but not for long periods of time.  We use the stalls for stallions and medical restrictions.

Honey Creek Ranch offers boarding in pasture or stalls for our customers.  Stall boarding is $10.00 per day and includes grain and hay twice a day .  We feed a bulk mixture we purchase at our local feed mill. It consists of 45% corn, 45% protein pellets and 10% oats with just a very little bit of molasses mixed with it and it tests out to be at or near 14% protein.

Our stalls are cleaned every day and completely stripped weekly.  We also daily use a product called “Sweet PDZ” which is a stall deodorizer and  moisture reducer and contains no harsh chemicals like lye or other stall mixtures.

Our pastures, depending on the season of the year, consist of costal Bermuda and Bahaia  or Rye grass .  We also supply good horse quality hay.  We feed the horses in the pasture twice a day with the same bulk feed as those in the stalls.  Experience has taught us that feeding pasture kept horses twice a day makes for a lot gentler and easier to catch horse.   A gentler horse makes life a lot easier when it is time to bathe, groom, shoe or load.

The price for pasture boarding is $8.00 per day including the twice daily feeding of grain. 

All horses arriving at Honey Creek must be current on negative Coggins & Immunizations.
